I am a mom to four kids and have been homeschooling them for 13 years. I’ve also had the privilege of teaching at Branches Surprise and Tandem Home Education.

One of my fondest parenting memories is teaching my oldest child to read at age four—I was so proud! However, when my second child wasn’t ready to begin reading until age six, I initially felt discouraged. Over time, I realized that each child is unique. Even within the same family, children act, behave, learn, and enjoy things differently.

This realization humbled me and inspired me to explore new ways to make learning enjoyable for each of my children. It was a pivotal moment of growth for me as both a parent and a teacher. Meeting kids where they are in their learning journey is one of the greatest blessings of homeschooling. I am so grateful for the opportunity to do this not only with my own children but also with the amazing students at Tandem Home Education.
